Sad News

Yesterday, March 19, 2008 James Taylor my hamster passed away. He was a wonderful hamster. Boyfriend and I are very sad. We are having a burial for him on Saturday. Right now he is in our freezer.

I remember one time when James Taylor got out of his cage, and we didn't know it. And he was hiding behind the bookcase, and then he scared the crap out of me. He was the best hamster ever.

For Halloween I dressed up as James Taylor the hamster, and Boyfriend dressed up as James Taylor, the signer/song writer who has touched multiple generations and continues to make fantastic Christmas albums. This is our Thanksgiving Card:

Uh Oh

I was just searching for a file on my computer. And one came up and I thought "That looks like my handwriting."

On a computer. A file name, on a computer.

.............. I feel like I am in a sci fi novel.

Not Compliments

Sometimes people will say something to you, that's just an obvious statement. Like "Your hair is curly today" or "You are tall." They comment on something that's different or unique. This is a not-compliment. The person has noticed that something is different, it has caught their attention, they don't particularly like it, but yet they feel compelled to say something.
"Your shoes are green."
"Your hair is shorter."
"That's a lot of pens."

Now sometimes the person doesn't know how they feel yet. So they ask for more information to stall until they can actually form an opinion.
"What color green would call those?"
"How many inches did you take off?"
"Why do you need all those pens? Did you order them from Staples on the company account?"

Usually, even with the extra information you will still not receive a compliment. Just a head nod, or perhaps being cut off from ordering anything from Staples.

And my I say for the record, that no, I don't have a dire need for the 26 pack of fine point sharpies. But as I continue in this position I find more and more new ways to use them. Like checking things off in different colors, or doodling in meetings.

And amendment to post below: When seven foot tall homeless man tells you that your shoes are untied, and you tie those motherfuckers.

Tongues and Shoelaces

Are unrelated.

Today while I was walking to work I saw a guy touching his tongue to his nose. It was... weird. He was wearing a business suit and stuff. And his tongue was out, and clearly touching his nose. And it made me immediately want to try. I didn't until just now. Are you trying right now? I feel like trying to touch your tongue to your nose is the new yawning. If you see someone else do it, you immediately want to do it to. Or even if someone is talking about it, you want to do it. I can't touch it though. I think my teeth are too big.

If you have food on your face, or in your teeth, or your fly is down a lot of people will notice and not tell you. Not so for shoelaces. If your shoelaces are untied everyone will tell you. And they will act like they just saved your life. They may even touch your shoulder, give you a sympathetic look, and then let you know your shoes are untied. Also, if you don't seem incredibly grateful, and tie your shoes right away, they get kinda mad at you. Like they wasted their empathy on you.

I just happen to think I look cooler with my shoes untied.

P.S.W. It's Friday.
